XOXX Composer was a student project that explores the importance of tangible objects and physical interaction when creating music in a digital environment.
The rack that is placed in the middle of the device holds eight discs and each disc can be assigned its own audio. Spherical magnets snap to the X and O markings along the permitter of the discs were some discs have more and some have fewer markings. The discs have either 16, 32, 5, 7 or 12 markings – which means XOXX Composer can play all kinds of rhythms, even polyrhythm.
XOXX Composer can either be used with its stand-alone software, as a plugin or with any DAW.
